In terms of video features, the Sony KDL- 40VE5 incorporates 24p True Cinema technology, 3D comb filter, 4:3 default, Advanced contrast enhancer (ACE), Auto Wide, CineMotion reverse 3:2 pull down technology, deep colour, Motionflow Technology 120 Hz and game text mode. As for its display technology, the Sony KDL- 40VE5 incorporates wide viewing angle LCD display panels that have a viewing angle of 178 degrees from left/ right and up/ down. In addition to that, it also incorporates BRAVIA Engine 2 video processing technology. It also has Picture Modes including Vivid, Standard, Cinema, and Custom. Besides that, it also has wide modes including wide zoom, normal, full, zoom and full pixel. The Sony KDL- 40VE5 also has an audio power output of 20 W in total, with 10 W each coming from its two speakers.
