Dell Inspiron Mini 9

The Dell Inspiron Mini 9 is a lightweight and compact netbook that hails from computer manufacturer Dell’s range of Inspiron netbooks. It sports a super slim design and is available in glossy black as well as white. Under the hood, the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 sports a smooth coated silver palm rest and screen bezel that matches the exterior.

The Dell Inspiron Mini 9 measures 232 mm x 27.2mm (front) ~ 31.7 mm (back) x 172 mm (W x H x D) in dimension and weighs approximately 2.28 lbs including its provided four cell battery. It operates on an Intel Atom TM Processor of 1.6 GHz, a 512 KB L2 Cache and a data bus speed of 533 MHz. Besides that, the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 runs on a genuine Windows XP Home Edition SP3. Alternatively, it can also be operated on an Ubuntu Linux 8.04 operating system with custom Dell interface. In terms of memory, the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 has up to 1 GB capacity on its DDR2 SDRAM which has a data bus speed of 533 MHz. In addition to that, the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 also incorporates an Intel 945 PM/ GS Express Chipset. In terms of graphics, the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 also incorporates an Intel Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator 950 card. There is also a glossy LED display that measures only 8.9 inches diagonally with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. As for audio and speakers, the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 has one external speaker. In terms of hard disk drive capacity, the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 can support up to 16 GB of configured capacity with a Solid State Drive. There are no optical drives. On the body of the Dell Inspiron Mini 9, there are three USB 2.0 ports, an integrated 10/ 100 LAN RJ45 port, a 15-pin VGA video connector, one audio line out for headphones and one audio line in for microphone, and an AC adapter connecter. There is also a three in one media card reader that is compatible with SD, MMC and MS memory cards. The Dell Inspiron Mini 9 is powered by a four cell Li-ion battery that has a capacity of 32 WHr. Besides that, the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 also has optional 0.3 mega pixel or 1.3 mega pixel webcameras that would be situated above the main display. In terms of wireless capabilities, the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 has support for Wi-Fi options including 802.11 g mini-card. As for Bluetooth options, the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 features a Bluetooth internal 2.0 mini card. In addition to that, the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 also features a QWERTY keyboard that is of a different layout with a number of keys shrunk, moved or removed to accommodate to the size of the netbook. Not only that, the keyboard is spill resistant and is solidly built to provide tactile feedback without too much flex. The keyboard is smaller than that found on the 89 percent size keyboard. Its built-in speakers are located below the screen on the bottom bezel. Besides that, it also has a textured touch pad that has two mouse buttons located below the touchpad.
