Asus N10J-A1

The Asus N10J-A1 is a netbook that is powered by an Intel® N270 processor and features a 10.2″ monitor that is powered by NVIDIA GeForce 9300M graphics card. There is an included software application which lets users switch between different power-saving modes, which largely involve when the display and hard drives will power down. A physical switch on the left side of the system allows users to actually turns the GeForce 9300 off; and is useful when away from an AC outlet and an extended battery life is required. A reboot is in order for the change to take effect, and is not something done on the fly. The device is designed with the use of In-Mold Roller Technology which creates a scratch-resistant panel that retains its sheen, Super Hybrid Engine which consists of the Power4 Gear Hybrid application and the Energy Processing Unit (EPU) which facilitates the deployment and usage of power according to the users’ preferences in relation to the specific tasks that they need to perform, and detects the users’ power requirements and makes the necessary power adjustments. The N10J also features Express Gate built-in operating system for timely boot up, Quick Logons through Facial Recognition, One Touch Magnification Tool that allows users to see in detail and RF Biometric Fingerprint Reader that incorporates an AuthenTec fingerprint sensor with TruePrint® technology. The netbook also supports high definition media interface (HDMI) as well as an ExpressCard slot. The HDMI interface allows users to play high definition media onto an external display or a big screen. And the Lenovo IdeaPad S10 is the only Netbook we’ve seen with an ExpressCard slot.

Reviews
“It may look like your standard Netbook, but the Asus N10J is unique because underneath it features discrete, switchable graphics. You’ll pay a bit more for the privilege, but the end result works for gaming on the go, as long as you don’t mind dialing down your game settings.” – (CNET, 2007)
“The N10J’s Altec Lansing speakers produced sound that was louder than your average netbook’s, but still not quite what you’d expect from a larger notebook. The quality, however, was pleasant; it wasn’t too tinny when we streamed Internet radio.” – (Laptop Mag.com, 2009)
