Reviews

“The Eee PC 901 is still an impressive mini notebook or “netbook” for your travel needs, but we hesitate to recommend this particular notebook over the newer Eee PC 1000H which features a larger keyboard, larger screen, and a larger capacity traditional hard drive.
If you want a smaller Atom-based notebook then the Eee PC 901 still might be a better choice than the Eee PC 1000H, but we suspect most consumers would rather have the slightly larger screen and keyboard found on the latest Eee PC notebooks.
In short, if you’re in the market for a low cost travel notebook the original Eee PC 901 is still a great notebook … but you may find even better options from ASUS if you shop around.” (NoteBookReview, 2008)

“Overall, though XP remains an interesting option for the “power user”, many should and will find what’s already on offer just perfect. Obviously the Linux OS is faster than XP, particularly at boot-up and shutdown, but the simplicity of it all is also very appealing and with the extra storage you get from sticking with Linux, this is definitely the version we’d recommend – you can always install XP yourself after all.” (TrustedReviews, 2008)

“All-in-all we like the improvements Asus has made to the Eee. It shows they are listening to their customers and making a valiant attempt to stay ahead of the curve in what is rapidly becoming a very competitive market. In fact, we’ll go ahead and say this is what the Eee should have been in the first place, as this version is much more useable and has better features than the original. Even better, Asus hasn’t raised the price despite all of the improvements it’s made, as the 901 still costs just $549, which is a decent value. We wished the keyboard was a bit larger, but for basic web use and email the Eee 901 is hard to beat when it comes to portability and bang for the buck.” (DigitalTrends, 2008)
